Tennants Roads & Construction has marked a significant milestone in its continued growth with the relocation of its central services team to a new office at Victoria Business Park, Belfast. The move reflects both the evolution of the business over more than four decades and its commitment to supporting future expansion across the division.

A Legacy of Growth and Adaptation

Over the past 40+ years, Tennants’ central staff have operated from several locations across Belfast, each move reflecting a new phase in the company’s development. From early offices on Royal Avenue and Duncrue Street in the late 1980s, the business transitioned in the early 1990s to Airport Road West—now home to Tennants Bitumen—where a purpose-built office facility supported the company’s growing operations.

As the Roads & Construction Division expanded, the Airport Road West site was further developed in the early 2000s to accommodate increasing demand and a growing workforce. The amalgamation of Charles Tennants NI and Tennants Bitumen also brought central teams together, strengthening collaboration and operational alignment.

Supporting Continued Expansion

In recent years, sustained growth across the division has led to the appointment of additional staff and an increasing need for dedicated office space. The decision to relocate central services to Victoria Business Park was made to address this demand while enabling the next phase of operational development.

The move creates additional capacity at the Airport Road West site, allowing for further expansion of bitumen operations. At the same time, it introduces a clearer distinction between administrative and operational environments—an important step in enhancing health and safety standards across the business.

A Hub for Central Services

The new Victoria Business Park office now serves as a central hub for key support functions within Tennants Roads & Construction. Teams based at the site include Human Resources, Training & Development, and Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ), all of which play a critical role in maintaining compliance and driving operational excellence across the division.

Strengthening Financial Leadership

Victoria Business Park also acts as the base for the division’s central finance leadership team. While finance personnel remain embedded within individual businesses, the central team provides oversight across financial reporting, governance, and performance analysis.

Supporting day-to-day operations, the finance administration team works closely with colleagues across the division to ensure efficient management of accounts payable and receivable, alongside timely reconciliation processes. This structure enables finance management to deliver robust insights and analysis, supporting informed strategic decision-making at director level.

While some roles allow for occasional flexibility, Tennants continues to operate with a strong office-based ethos. With core activities rooted in site-based operations, bringing support teams together in a central location enhances communication, collaboration, and the effective delivery of services across the division.
